Persuasive Writing Lesson: Exploring School Uniforms

In our recent Literacy lesson, we dove into the world of persuasive writing, focusing on a real-world topic: school uniforms. To kickstart our learning, we decided to gather the opinions of our peers by conducting a class survey on the subject. Each student asked 10 classmates for their thoughts on whether school uniforms should be kept or stopped. Once we collected the data, we worked on converting the responses into percentages, allowing us to present the results in a clear and organised way.

Using this data, we then took on the challenge of persuasive writing. With our survey results as evidence, we crafted compelling arguments either in favour of keeping school uniforms or advocating for their removal. By incorporating real statistics into our writing, we were able to back up our ideas with solid facts, making our persuasive pieces more convincing and engaging.

This lesson not only helped us practice persuasive writing but also taught us how to gather and analyse data effectively. It was a fun and interactive way to enhance our skills while tackling a topic that directly relates to our daily school experience!
