TASK 3: What Happens to My Body When I Am Active?
We also explored how our bodies respond to different levels of activity. We watched videos explaining the effect of exercise on our lungs and hearts. In PE we carried out a range of exercises, including walking, walking quickly, cycling in our seats, running, and resting.
After each activity, we measured our pulse rate and breathing rate. We then discussed why both of these increase when we exercise — our hearts beat faster to pump more oxygen-rich blood around the body, and our breathing speeds up to take in the extra oxygen our muscles need.
This hands on investigation helped us understand the physical benefits of being active and why regular movement is so important for our health.
A fun day was had learning about the benefits of active travel. It is good for our bodies, good for the environment, and good for our wellbeing — helping us stay healthy, happy, and ready to learn!
