At the beginning of February we planted cress seeds in class. To discover the best conditions for growth we had 4 tubs and kept them on the window sill and in a cupboard. Each tub contained cotton wool and seeds. Tub 1 had no light and no water and did not grow. Tub 2 had no light but did have water and grew badly. Tub 3 had light and no water and did not grow. Tub 4 had light and water and grew well. We kept a 'Growing Cress Diary' and enjoyed observing the changes each day. We found that seeds need light and water to grow well. In class we had a lovely snack of crackers with cheese, ham and a little cress. Then we brought our little individual pots home to share with our families!
